City of Huntington vs Lifehouse

In 2013, Rocky Meadows told the Herald-Dispatch: “Now I’m sitting in on parole hearings instead of attending them. Now I’m in the sheriff’s office, the police chief’s office, and the mayor’s office praying for them as they do their jobs.”

Now, it appears that the man whose name has been synonymous with recovery in Huntington over the last decade, may soon be in the courtroom against the city he stood with in the heart of the epidemic.

The city has been moving forward to make sure that recovery houses are up to code and are doing what they say they are doing. But the city is frustrated with Meadows’ recovery homes Lifehouse after several failed requests and attempts to inspect their  sober living homes. The city of Huntington has now filed  suit against Lifehouse who has at least 14 sober living homes within Huntington city limits

Documents filed in the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia say that numerous times, , the city has requested to inspect Lifehouse’s properties but we’re refused entry by Lifehouse officials.

In a statement on his Facebook page, Rocky Meadows stated: “The City of Huntington has absolutely told so many non truths and out right lies in this suit. For instance we are state West Virginia Alliance of Recovery Residences - WVARR certified and compliant, we are Cabell county heath dept. Compliant inspected just two months ago. We've had the city drug czar through our properties, we've had 7 of the 11 city council members through our properties and we have all the emails showing we've NEVER denied inspection or access, we invited it, we can even prove we invited the city fire Marshall and the entire city multiple times. WE HAVE ALL THE PROOF! We offered the city to do anything and everything they think needed for safety such as wired fire alarms, we only asked too not attempt to take our legal rights as recovery housing.”

several other houses have been compliant with the city. Newness of Life has put lots of work and money into their houses to ensure they are doing the best they can to help those in recovery.

With the amount of money being made by these houses I believe the city of Huntington is correct in having high expectations of these houses. The city must take action to make sure those in recovery are not being exploited or tat advantage of.

Rocky Meadows has saved a lot of lives in Huntington. Lifehouse has hundreds of alumni who praise Rocky for saving their lives.

Rocky says the city is lying. Both sides will soon have the chance to show evidence to support their side. This could have major implications for the recovery industry in Huntington.

Things you hear at Huntington

Parking lot at Speedway

Girl: “Can I get a cigarette off of you”

Man : “ Yes”. Looks at her. “Are you pregnant?”

Girl “ Yes”

Man looks disgusted but gives her the cigarette

From my friend Justin Ponton

“Our Newness Of Life guys just had to Narcan a lady in the alley way behind our house 3 times. They said the lady was extremely grateful and swears it was weed laced with fentanyl. Just passing this along. If you’re going to smoke weed, get a card and go to a legitimate place. If you can’t get a card, be careful. It breaks my heart even typing this out. F*** fentanyl. For real.”

Homeless bullied

Went into Sheetz on 6th earlier this morning. There was a guy standing up front. I could tell he was roughed up.

He wanted a cup of coffee. He said “it’s rough being homeless out here. I had a few dollars and two other homeless guys beat me up and took my money. We are more afraid of other homeless people than anything else.”

Homeless bullying other homeless has long been a problem in Huntington but it goes largely ignored.

A lot of the homeless do not file police reports because they are afraid of retaliation or have warrants against them. This makes them easy targets.

Murder suspect arrested

Peter Vanmaasdam III, 31, faces murder and concealment of a body charges, according to a Huntington Police Department news release.  The man was arrested in connection with the death of Mary Deel.

It was a brutal and disturbing murder and it is a relief that the man is off the street.  As usual, my posting caused arguments on my Facebook page.  I congratulated the HPD for 'solving' the case.  I was immediately told by posters that he is innocent until proven guilty and my post was offensive to the accused killer.  It certainly is right of me to say something about a man who is accused of burning a woman and doing other horrific things to her.

As usual, there were Gator Haters on hand to criticize about how I said there was a serial killer.  Well, again.......I never said there was a serial killer.  I only said that some people have been messaging me about bodies being found by the railroad tracks. I even said I did not think there was a serial killer and explained that some people see the overdoses and do not know they are overdoses or suicides.  There are bodies found on the streets of Huntington but that doesn't mean they were murdered.

But still, people hang on every word I post hoping I say something they can rant about or attack me over.  That is cool....I understand....but they need to understand that it is my page and I can state my opinion.  One of the reasons of my page was to give the little guy a voice.

So now, I am posting my thoughts on this blog as not to get Facebook after me lol.

But, anyway....congratulations go out to The HPD for making an arrest.  I won't say 'solved' the case.  Sorry, I used that word but I always think of Scooby and The Mystery Machine solving the case at the end of each episode.  I never stuck around to watch the part where Scooby and the gang had to go to court and testify.  I just always assumed after Fred's speech of how he solved it that it was solved.

Utter bs

I love some of the bs going on. A moderator of one of the worst groups for spreading false info comes on to my page and hypocritically ask me why I spread false info.

Heck, I got most of the info from his page lol

Well, my page was always meant to give people a voice. I’m not sure of what the purpose is of 911 sites since it is unverified info.

Then a lady comes onto the HPD page on their original post and says they need to talk to the guy that made the post.

Here was and is my answer.

Question what?  because someone brought up a point. So there is not freedom of speech. The point was and is that people are concerned about bodies found by the railroad tracks. Most have been overdosed. But statements were never released so people wonder if there is a cover up.
The murder that this is being tied to was last year. It is unsolved. It was a murder similar to this one.
People have the right to ask questions, Mam.
I am the one who made the posts. People have questions because overdose victims are found all over town. There was recently a body found at St Joe across from where I work. Me and others saw it. It was a suicide I believe but people are scared when they see bodies and nothing is said.

I will say what I said on my page. I don’t think it is a serial killer but what I think is worse. We have a lot of drifters living on our streets and river banks. They are dangerous people from all over the country.  They have killed and will kill you over $50.
I never slighted the HPD and have always supported them. But you are fooling yourself if you don’t think we are in the presence of dangerous drifters or big city drug dealers.

Serial killer?

So HPD issued a statement about a post of mine regarding the body found last week. WSAZ is even reporting it. No new news on the murder, just talking about my post.

What people are counting are the various bodies that have overdosed on the tracks that statements have never been released on.

Also, the murder people are tying this to is an unsolved murder from last year in which a girl was found in a trash can.

Here is their statement.

The Huntington Police Department would like to address recent rumors on social media. Our department works diligently to investigate all serious crimes in our community. There have been four completely unrelated homicides in Huntington this year, the first three of which have resulted in arrests. The fourth incident is being investigated thoroughly at this time, and there is no indication it is connected to a serial killer.

Grim Monday

It is a gloomy morning. Things are looking grim on the streets. I sat in front of AJ at 630 am in front of Speedway. An old co-worker came by and asked me for a dollar. He looked bad like he had been up for days.

Then, a young man in his 20’s that I knew from Betty and her kids, literally stumbled up. He looked bad. He said he hasn’t been able to get sleep. I talked to him a few minutes and told him I can get him help.

The air is changing and the nights will soon be cold. I do know what these people are going to do. The ones that have been out there a while are looking aged. This meth is killing people a piece at a time.

Ive was seeing Betty’s cousins out here last week. Their mom overdosed and died around this time last year. The man who is a repeat offender felon got busted the other day. On top of several charges, he had a gun in his backpack. He is being held on $96,000 bail.

I hadn’t seen the woman since the body was found. She is usually out here going through dumpsters.

No more word on the body found. No identification, no news period. It appears to be another one of those things swept away. That’s why so many hate my page…it shines light on things meant to be kept in the dark.

Body found

Word is quickly spreading through Huntington about the female body found this morning by the railroad tracks on 4th Street and 7th Avenue at 7:30 am.

Reports are it was cardiac arrest but the body was burned. This will ignite many rumors.

I have been receiving theories for a while that there has several bodies found by railroad tracks and many fear a serial killer. A more logical theory is that many shoot upthere because there isn’t many people there and they won’t be seen. But if they overdose, there is no one to save them.

This body being burned Spurs questions. Hopefully the HPD provides answers quickly.
