The Carnival Food Place which opened its door on the 9th Street Plaza earlier this year has already closed.
I can’t say this really shocks me. I’m not really trying to be critical but there are lessons to be learned.
The idea was a novelty or niche idea at best if you are going to have a theme restaurant, you have to go all in
The decor of the restaurant was flamingos from the previous restaurant There were not any carnival decor The interior should have been carnival or fair
The Facebook page should have been used more and more creatively. I informed the owner that I was coming on grand opening but when I got there, there was no food to show It was just me interviewing the owner and nothing to show
The carnival theme could have been easy to promote There could have been games out front, clowns hired or something The lesson is if you open a theme restaurant, go all in or you lose the advantage of the hook
